Sorry for being MIA.  I’ve had a lot going on….but then again who doesn’t with all of the holiday festivities coming and going! 

We had Thanksgiving at 4 different places and it was awesome!  Each time our friends/family would send us home with leftovers!  My Mom still thinks I’m a starving 20 year old…oh wait some days I am!  Not really but it’s sweet of all of them to think of us and it’s nice to have it ready to go in the kitchen! 

Today I am making some chili with my leftover turkey! 

Saute 1 chopped onion and 1 chopped poblano pepper in olive oil until tender.  Add on 28-ounce can diced tomatoes, two 15.5 ounce cans kidney beans (rinsed), 2 cups shredded roasted turkey, 2 cups water, and 2 teaspoons ground cumin: season with salt and pepper.  Simmer until thickened, 20 -25 minutes…..and magnafique chili on a cold day!

When Jesse and I were in high school we had these friends.   Okay they were friends for like one semester….but still they were friends.  And they were sisters.  Well they LOVED borrowing our clothes.  We don’t know why and we were fine with it.  I’m pretty sure we thought it was cool they thought we had cool clothes.  The fact that Jesse and I could even wear some of the same stuff at that point is just astonishing to me and if you know us in real life I’m sure it is to you as well.  In real time (as in now)……she’s a stick and I’m…..well not. 

Okay moving forward…..

This one particular top that was a button up was my very favorite.  It fit perfect and it was from a store in Dallas (big deal for a small city girl) and I had purchased it with my own money….needless to say I loved it.  Another side note is that when I have a favorite outfit it sort of becomes my uniform.  I wear it all the time.  I still do it and I’m pretty sure my friend Emily has been tempted to do an intervention on me for that.   

I have a point I promise…..one day one of the sisters asked to borrow the beloved top.  I was okay with it but I instructed them to please take really good care of it.  Well it disappeared.  Gonzo.  Finito.  I was devestated.  So like a good friend Jesse agrees to make a plan to retrieve the top….we were just for sure they had it and weren’t telling us.  We went over there acting all cool and searched high and low when they weren’t looking.  Nothing.  No favorite top.  Not only did we not find anything Jesse almost got beat up by the older sister. 

Defeated and naked feeling…..I just lost hope.  This feeling came up again in my head this week because I became one of those sisters.  I have lost a pair of Age’s most favorite scrubs.  I’m going to replace them with some scrubs that have Looney Tunes Characters on them.  I’m sure she’ll just adore me after all that.   

But then I remembered this wonderful idea that Jesse and I came up with after the lost top incident…..we didn’t know what it was called at the time but we had planned on putting tracking devices on our clothes.  You could log in online and just see where all your clothes were.  You would be the only one with access to it.  Each item would have a description so you would know what it is you are looking for.  For example had my idea became a real thing I could just have Age log in and search scrubs.  And boom….FOUND!   

So when I arrived at work today I thought “I wonder if anyone has stolen my bright idea.”  So I google’d Clothing GPS….and get this….some clothing makers are putting it in their clothes.  Well they are doing it for much better reason than my reason of just being able to find clothes…..it’s to find people.  Like for skiers or snow boarders but still it’s a real thing now!  Who knew Jesse and I were so smart back then?  I’m pretty sure we presented our idea to Jesse’s dad who also thought we were brilliant but I just wish he would have run with it….he’s really smart!  A lot smarter then we were!  Here is an article about the GPS Clothing.

You know how I couldn’t even pretend to know what kind of wedding I wanted at the beginning of all of this planning?  Well I’m sort of the same way ALL the time with my decor.  I love antique shopping, I love gossip benches and old paintings.  I love old stereos and old bar sets….and I really love finding old Frankoma pottery pieces. 

But I also love modern stuff too….I’m not going to lie I don’t buy a lot of modern stuff because I don’t know where I would put it.  Little things can be intermingled but mostly it’s just stuff I look at and day-dream of having two houses….one with all my antiques in it and one with my modern stuff in it.

Here are some of my favorite things from the site.

Inside out champagne glasses!  Age, this is like a dream come true for us and our crush on champers….less spillage chances! 

Light Switch Rack.  I don’t know about you but to me this seems like a brilliant idea.  What do you do when you first walk in or out of the house….turn the light on or off!  This way you can hang your keys and throw anything you need to remember the next day right there!  Baaarillliant! 

Half-Pint Creamer.  At your next brunch serve your creamer out of this darling glass container that looks like a milk from elementary school!  I love it!

I am marrying the most handsome Teddy there ever was!

So I’ve done something that had to be done.  There were no more “maybe next time it happens”, or “I’ll pull myself out of it one of these days I’m just having a good time”, or “I’ll make the change when I’m married with kids”….

Not Anymore.  I’ve done a CHINTERVENTION on myself.  I’m not sure if people actually do interventions on themselves and my sweet Teddy was too nice to do one on me but something had to be done. 

Today we got the rest of our engagement photos back.  The backdrops are gorgeous, the photography beyond perfect, Teddy was so handsome in all of them, the one thing that wasn’t so great was the presence of my chin.  It’s weird my chin, it’s not that I have double chin, it’s that I have one big chin!  I am pretty sure that’s worse…it’s like people should just start calling me “The Chin”….don’t get any ideas Daria.  There are a lot of photos that I like but the ones I don’t like are just so disappointing.  It’s like someone who is a drunk gets recorded and sees the wild and crazy way they act and decide they want to do something about it….well I saw those and immediately turned to my resources regarding chintervention and how to make this better! 

I first found some amazing exercises through my trusty ol’ google….so let me share with you some of my favorites….I would advise you to try these while you are reading them….if someone sees you just pretend like you were about to sneeze. 

• Open your mouth, gently tilt your head backwards, and move your bottom lip over your top lip.
• Along the same line of thought, without moving your head backwards, take your lower lip and try to touch your nose with it.
• Repeatedly sticking your tongue out strengthens various mouth and face muscles and may help tighten up a double chin.
• Press your palm to your forehead while resisting with your head and neck. Do you feel your neck and chin tightening?

So you probably look like I did when I was reading this…..stupid.  But if you did them then that means you are on board for my chintervention and I appreciate the support….that’s what people need in the time of recovery. 

I do know that just simply exercising and eating right will also yield to the “Chin” problem…..and I’m working on both….come on people I don’t mind my ass being a little fat as much as I do my face….Daria already said my cheeks were a 7 on a scale of 1-10 for looking like a Cabbage Patch Doll.  I can’t have my chin follow suit!

I’ll keep you posted….in the meantime I’m getting my car windows tinted so I can do my exercises while I drive and not get looked at like I’m seizing.

Lately I’ve been missing my Grammie.  I know it’s because I’m getting married and I’m sad that she won’t be here to enjoy that special day with me….so today as I’m missing my Grammie so badly this Link Wink Wednesday is dedicated to her….and the things that she was foolishly sentimental about! 

I’m going to focus on one website today because I just really like it and they have a lot of vintage looking items that I have to appreciate! 

The website is Cambria Cove

It is like a giant gift shop….I love gift shops.  As weird as this is I love the gift shop at the local hospital here and some days can be found there just shopping. 

Tea Cups.  I love them and so did my Grammie.  I can remember her nice dinnerware with the tea cups and some others that sat on this giant pedestal.  They were so delicate and each was special to her in a different way.   

Cambria Cove has two sets of tea cups that are commemorative and are very very pretty!  They make me want to be a lady who lunches today!  One set is from 1900-1940 and one set is from 1950-1990.  Each has 5 tea cups with it’s matching saucer for $150.00.  I think that’s a great deal for something you can display in a china cabinet or elsewhere at your home!  Plus they would individually make great gifts that someone could have and remember you gave it to them always.

My Grammie also loved cards.  She loved to give cards and receive cards.  It never failed she would love the card most of all….that was the gift not the actual present.  Probably where my love for paper kicks in!  An expensive love but hey we all have our vices and this was for sure one of hers.  I still go to my local antique shops and love to find old Christmas Cards, Birthday Cards, etc. and display them.  Most of the time they are old and have been written on by someone and it’s sort of fun to read what they wrote to one another.  Cambria Cove has really fun new vintage Christmas cards.  They look old but you can actually send them to someone.

Some of the other sweet things on the site that I love and remind me of my Grammie are the wonderful soap….never liquid…always a bar of soap.  The yummy delicate treats are delicious looking as well.

So I wasn’t going to say anything beforehand because I was a nervous wreck about being a cheesy idiot….but we got engagement photos taken.

We did different locations and had some different outfit options.  Teddy was so funny about his outfits and when he would wear the right one with the color scheme and such.  What a girl!  It was one of the most awkward situations I’ve been in….Someone asking you to smile and act happy on cue.  I am happy but I have a hard time just popping into “the i’m so in love you I could just die, you’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me mode” for the click of the camera.   Josh McCullock, our photographer, did say I had the best fake laugh he’s ever heard and I told him I used to act.  It comes natural.  HA!

Our engagement photos wouldn’t be complete without the rest of our family….so we brought the bear dogs.  Josh is also our old next door neighbor and hadn’t seen the guys in a while and was thoroughly impressed with their growth.  From puppies to giants….in the matter of months.  Josh only sent us the one that he liked of the dogs as a real teaser.  So without further ado….here is our first engagement photo that doesn’t really have us in it.
